AmaZulu winger S’thembiso Dlamini believes his side could stun glamour club Kaizer Chiefs, if they are clinical with the opportunities given in their premiership encounter in Durban on Tuesday evening.
“They are beatable if you utilise the chances given and stick them in the back of the net, just like they do,” said Dlamini, who opened the scoring in Usuthu’s 2-1 win over Santos on the Saturday.
Chiefs are coming off a league win where they were dominated by Free State Stars to snatch two late goals in a 2-1 win at FNB Stadium.
Victory for Amakhosi at Moses Mabhida Stadium will see them top the standings with a two point lead over Mamelodi Sundowns and SuperSport United, who both carry 28 points, and play their respective fixtures on Wednesday.
Dlamini, and his namesake, Ayanda, upfront will be key in hampering Chiefs’ ambitions, as the three points on offer will help improve 19 points holder, AmaZulu’s challenge for a top eight berth ahead of the extended Christmas break.
“I know it’s a challenging game for us and they will be out here in search for points just before the Christmas break,” Dlamini said.
“It was good to see how we worked hand in hand as a team against Santos on the weekend.
“But the negative was that we didn’t finish off some of the opportunities we got, something we can not afford to do against a team like Chiefs.
“We’d also love the full points being that it’s a final game of the year and it’s at our home ground. It will be a perfect result for our fans.”
Meanwhile, Jomo Cosmos and Santos will lock horns at Sinaba Stadium in Daveyton with both sides struggling, and in desperate search for points to move them away from the relegation zone.
A win for Ezenkosi giving them eight points will see the team move away from the bottom place, and replace Santos, which has 11 points, in the 14th spot.
The People’s Team recently replaced coach Boebie Solomons with club legend Duncan Crowie in a caretaker capacity, starting off with a loss to AmaZulu.
Cosmos came off a defeat too, going down 3-1 to Maritzburg United, and want more cohesiveness to their play to help them add to their single campaign win.
“We have got to improve on our concentration and need to convert more goals,” said Cosmos captain Avril Phali.
“If we do that then we can beat Santos, who are a tough team to play against despite the fact that they are also struggling.” — Sapa
