Mandla Mandela's wedding in contempt of court

Tando Mabunu is forming an application against former president Nelson Mandela's grandson and his now wife Nodiyala Mandela for contempt of court.

Tando Mabunu has instructed her lawyer, Wesley Hayes, to make an application against former president Nelson Mandela’s grandson and his now wife Nodiyala Mandela for contempt of court.

“You must remember that both [Mandla] Mandela and his now wife Nodiyala are in contempt of court, they ignored a court order ... I am busy this evening [Saturday] drafting the papers,” said Hayes.

Princess Nodiyala Mbalenhle Makhathini wedded Mandla Mandela in a private celebration in Mvezo Royal palace on Saturday.

Earlier this week, Mabunu—Mandela’s estranged wife—was granted a prohibitory court order against Mandela which prevented him from marrying anyone while still validly married to her.

Although Mabunu was nowhere to be seen near Mvezo, it was believed she flew from Johannesburg to Mthatha on Friday.

Mabunu scored another success on Monday when Mandela’s assets were successfully attached by a Port Elizabeth based sheriff after Mandela defaulted on paying living maintenance fees.

The assets seized reportedly included a minibus and several head of cattle.

Allegedly, Mandela has on numerous occasions failed to pay R20 000 towards Mabunu’s legal fees and also R12 500 as living maintenance performances.

Hayes said he would approach the court next week.—Sapa
