Swaziland earthquake’s tremors felt in SA

An earthquake in Swaziland resulted in tremors that were felt in Mpumalanga and KwaZulu-Natal.
An earthquake in Swaziland resulted in tremors that were felt in Mpumalanga and KwaZulu-Natal.
The earthquake was reported to have taken place at around 9pm on Sunday night. It measured four on the Richter scale, the Council for Geoscience’s Ian Saunders said on Monday.
 
Residents in Newcastle, Ladysmith, Dundee, Mkuze, Piet Retief, and Pongola felt the tremors from the earthquake, East Coast Radio reported.
 
Aftershocks were also reportedly felt in the KwaZulu-Natal midlands.
 
“Our house and windows started suddenly rattling at 9pm. It only lasted a few seconds where we are,” Mkuze resident Bronwen Kelly said. – Sapa
