SABC news has reported that Nzimande was admitted to hospital on Wednesday.
Spokesperson Vuyelwa Qinga told the public broadcaster that Nzimande was suffering from flu.
She said he would be discharged on Wednesday.
The Mail & Guardian has learned that Nzimande collapsed after the Numsa policy conference in Durban.
Doctors reportedly advised him to rest before returning to work. – Sapa
