TO THE COUNCIL OF THE SOUTH AFRICAN COUNCIL FOR NATURAL SCIENTIFIC PROFESSIONS (SACNASP)

In terms of the South African Council for Natural Scientific Professions Act, 2003 ( Act No 27 of 2003), the Minister of Science and Technology, is in the process of reconstituting the Council of the South African Council for Natural Scientific Professions (SACNASP).

The objectives of the SACNASP are to promote the practice of natural science professions in South Africa, exercise control over the standard of professional conduct of professional, candidate and certificated natural scientists, monitor the standard of education and training of professional, candidate and certificated natural scientists, and to recognise education and training which is necessary for registration.

Nominations of suitable candidates to be considered for appointment to the SACNASP Council by the Minister of Science and Technology are hereby invited from all interested persons / organisations. Twenty to thirty members shall be appointed to serve on a part-time basis, and the Council is reconstituted every four years.

When submitting nominations, it should be borne in mind that Council members should be persons who have distinguished themselves in one or more in the fields of broader management; financial matters; education and training; research and policy development; legal matters; and marketing and liaison.

The nominations should be submitted to the Minister of Science and Technology by no later than 02 November 2012. Appropriate curricula vitae should accompany the nominations. The following information should also be provided: Identity number; gender and race; designation and responsibilities; address, telephone, fax and e-mail; qualifications / field of study; current and past service on boards; area of expertise; names of contactable referees, as well as confirmation of the availability of nominees.
