Former environment minister Valli Moosa has been appointed as the independent non-executive chairperson of Anglo American Platinum.
"I look forward to leading the board through this challenging time and working with the executive team to ensure that we deliver on ... restoring Anglo Platinum to safe and sustainable profitability ..." he was quoted as saying in Fin24 on Saturday.
The appointment was made after former chairperson Cynthia Carroll resigned on Friday.
"I also thank Cynthia Carroll for her committed service to the board over the last six years and we wish her well for the future," said Moosa.
He has been a director since 2008‚ served as deputy chairperson and lead independent director of the board since 2010. He is the current chairperson of Sun International Limited.
Fin24 reported that former AngloGold Ashanti's chief executive Mark Cutifani had also been appointed as a non-executive director on the Amplats board. – Sapa
