President Jacob Zuma on Tuesday again thanked the public for their ongoing support and prayers for the elder statesman.
"We thank the public for the dignified gatherings outside the hospital," Zuma said in a statement.
"Many groupings and individuals have gathered in dignity, respecting the privacy of Madiba, other patients, their families, or the hospital personnel.
"The prayer services around the country are also appreciated."
He also thanked the international community for their continued messages of support for Mandela and his family.
The ailing icon was spending his 32nd day in the Mediclinic Heart Hospital on Tuesday. He was admitted on June 8 with a recurring lung infection.
Mandela 'is very much alive'
Meanwhile, Madiba's grandson Ndaba on Tuesday said South Africans should not be saddened by Mandela's ill-health.
"With less than two weeks to go before the old man's [95th] birthday [on July 18], it's time to celebrate his life. The old man is very much alive," he said in Pretoria.
"When I speak to him he responds. Let us not be in a spirit of sadness but a spirit of celebration because the old man is still with us today," Ndaba Mandela said. – Sapa
