Canadian soul singer and six-time Grammy nominated performer Tamia Hill is bringing her Beautiful Surprise tour to South Africa. This is Tamia's third visit to the country.

The singer will perform songs from her latest album of the same name, as well as some of her nostalgic earlier hits, such as Still, Officially Missing You, So Into You and You Put a Move on My Heart, among others.

Tamia has a charming voice, made timeless by her début single You Put a Move on My Heart, produced by Quincy Jones in 1994.

Tamia explores various music genres in Beautiful Surprise and created a diverse and soulful album.

"I feel a connection to all types of music," says Tamia. "From soul to country to gospel, as long as the song has a good story, I'm hooked." Citing Phyllis Hyman and Chaka Khan as influences, Tamia strives to bring freshness to the soul arena.

At the 2013 Grammy Awards, Beautiful Surprise was nominated for best R&B song and best R&B album.

Tamia has collaborated with the likes of Babyface, Barry White, Missy Elliott, Rodney "Darkchild" Jerkins, Gladys Knight, Eric Benet and Gerald Levert. In 2003, she recorded the number four Billboard Hot 100 Chart hit So Into You with rapper Fabolous.

Tamia is performing at Cape Town's Grand Arena, Grandwest, on Saturday April 26, Carnival City in Johannesburg on Sunday April 27 and Monday April 28, and at the Boardwalk Casino in Port Elizabth on April 30.

The Mail & Guardian is giving away one set of double tickets for the Cape Town, Johannesburg and Port Elizabeth shows.
