Three men have shot and killed two police officers in KwaDukuza, near Stanger, according to KwaZulu-Natal police.

Four police officers had stopped at the side of the R74 to investigate a suspicious red vehicle when the men shot the two police officers in the head, said police spokesperson Colonel Jay Naicker.

The three men emerged from the bush and allegedly shot the constable and student constable, who were still sitting in the front seats of their vehicle.

One of the men got into the police vehicle and wrestled with the third officer for his firearm, said Naicker.

The other officer seated in the back pulled out his firearm and shot at the men, who fled into the bushes.

No arrests have been made, according to Naicker. – Sapa
