Titans book place in Pro20 final

The Titans snatched a thrilling six-run victory over the Cobras in a Pro20 semifinal played at Newlands on Sunday. The Titans booked their place to play the Dolphins in the final in Durban on Friday. The Cobras required 16 runs for victory off the final over and when Henry Davids struck Roelof van der Merwe for a six off the first ball, the Titans seemed doomed.

Smith ton pulverises Bangladesh

Graeme Smith smashed an unbeaten century to guide South Africa to an emphatic nine-wicket win in the first one-day international against Bangladesh on Sunday. Smith hit 14 fours and a six in his 118-ball 103 as South Africa surpassed the victory target of 178 with as many as 13.1 overs to spare in a lop-sided contest at the Chittagong Divisional Stadium.

Proteas rest Kallis, Boucher and Ntini for one-dayers

Senior players Jacques Kallis, Mark Boucher and Makhaya Ntini will be rested for South Africa’s limited-overs series against Bangladesh, team officials said on Thursday. Captain Graeme Smith will, however, lead the side in the three-match series starting in Chittagong on March 9, despite speculation that he would return home due to a nagging knee injury.

Pollock’s farewell starts in victory

Shaun Pollock’s farewell tour of South Africa started in triumph when he steered his team to victory in a Twenty20 international against the West Indies at the Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg on Friday. Pollock top-scored with 36 not out off 25 balls as South Africa won by four wickets with four balls to spare.
