President Jacob Zuma has appointed Free State High Court Judge President Hendrick Mmoli Thekiso Musi as a member of the arms deal commission inquiry.

President Jacob Zuma has appointed the Judge President of the Free State High Court Hendrick Mmoli Thekiso Musi, as a member of the commission of inquiry into the arms deal.

This is according to a statement released by Zuma’s spokesperson Mac Maharaj on Tuesday.

In October, Zuma appointed a commission of inquiry to look into allegations of fraud, corruption, impropriety or irregularity in the Strategic Defence Procurement Package—otherwise known as the arms deal.

Musi will replace Judge Jacobus Van der Merwe who had indicated that he would not be available to serve on the commission for personal reasons.

Judge Willie Seriti, a judge in the Supreme Court, now chairs the commission appointed by Zuma and the third member is Judge Malesela Legodi, a judge in of the North Gauteng High Court.

When announcing the commission, Zuma said it would complete its work within two years.—I-Net Bridge
