Agricultural scientist Norman Borlaug, the father of the ”green revolution” who won the Nobel Peace Prize, died on September 12 in Texas.
It was no secret that a polygamist sect that built a compound in the west Texas desert believed in marrying off underage girls to older men. The sheriff had an informant for four years who was feeding him information about life inside the sect. But authorities say their hands were tied until last week.
Steffi Graf required three stitches after husband Andre Agassi inadvertently hit her in the face with his racket during a fundraiser that followed the final of the United States Clay Court Championships on Sunday. Graf and Agassi were holding hands — her left to his right — while rallying with a couple of youngsters when Agassi’s follow-through struck his wife in the face.
Fifth-seeded Tommy Haas dominated Andy Roddick on clay again, beating the number one seed a fourth straight time in a quarterfinal at the United States Men’s Clay Court Championship on Friday. Haas rallied from one set down to win 6-7 (1), 6-4, 6-4 in a matchup that Roddick said could have been the final. It was two years ago.
