Doctors who surprised the world of Aids research with a study showing a vaccine prevented some HIV infections released their findings on Tuesday.
South Africa has launched human trials of the first African-produced HIV vaccine, as scientists seek new approaches to battling Aids.
A Medical Research Council research initiative is still receiving government funding for clinical trials on two Aids vaccines recently launched in SA.
SA is launching clinical trials of the first HIV/Aids vaccines created by a developing country, said Anthony Mbewu, head of the MRC.
