This follows a lion attack on Tuesday on the farm Uitspan, near Mafikeng. David Moloana (50), of Mareetsane village, was killed while cleaning a drinking pen situated in a lion cage.
Two construction sites in Durban, including Tongaat Hulett Sugar, have been closed down as they were considered unsafe for workers, the Labour Department said on Tuesday. At Le Domaine Estates in Hillcrest, inspectors stopped the construction of houses located directly under high voltage power cables.

A formal inquiry by the Department of Labour into the exposure of poisonous fumes at a Cato Ridge manganese company will begin on Monday. The inquiry follows six cases of manganism that were reported at the Assmang plant. Manganism is acquired by overexposure to airborne manganese.
