Chiefs blow chance to lead log

MONDAY, 12.30PM:

KAIZER Chiefs dropped two valuable points as they played to a 1-1 draw with Supersport United in a Premiership match at Rand Stadium on Sunday.

United’s Chicco Lawrence opened the score in the 12th minute after a Thomas Madigage cross. Thembinkosi Biyela equalised for Amakhosi after receiving a pass from Mark Williams in the 38th minute.

Mamelodi Sundowns hammered Santos 5-0 at Odi Stadium on Sunday. Augustine Makalakalane scored for the home side in the 34th minute. In the 55th minute Daniel Mudau made a solo run which resulted in a goal. Pitso Mosimane made it 3-0 after connecting a Joas Mogolego square pass in the 80th minute. Defender Isaac Shai scored in the 80th minute to make it 4-0. Mudau completed his brace a minute into injury time.

Log leaders Bush Bucks went down 1-0 to QwaQwa Stars at Charles Mopeli Stadium on Sunday. The goal that separated the two teams came in the 37th minute after Doctor Mkhonza headed home a Meshack Tsotetsi corner kick.

Real Rovers’ striker George Mathiba scored a brace as his team beat Bloemfontein Celtic 3-1 at Pietersburg Stadium. Mathiba opened the score in the 12th minute but the excitement was shortlived as Celtic striker Willem Vries equalised in the 21st minute. New signing Percy Makwaeba made it 2-1 for Rovers before Mathiba completed his brace in the 65th minute.

Jomo Cosmos collected maximum points when they beat Hellenic 1-0 at Green Point Stadium on Friday. Godfrey Sapula scored the only goal of the match.
