Griquas made sure the Valke will complete their Absa Currie Cup rugby season without a win when they beat the East Randers 65-25 in Brakpan on Saturday. The winners were ahead 44-3 at half-time. As has been the case all season, the Valke showed glimpses of talent and good coaching, only to fall back on bad habits and even worse defending.
The Sharks beat the Valke 45-22 in an Absa Currie Cup game at the Bosman Stadium in Brakpan on Friday night but only entertained their travelling supporters in the first half as they scored five tries to the Valke’s one. Prop Kees Lensing opened the scoring with a try as early as the third minute, which Rory Kockott converted.
The Golden Lions massacred the Valke 62-5 in an Absa Currie Cup fixture at a chilly Bosman Stadium in Brakpan on Friday evening. The Lions jumped to fourth place on the Currie Cup log with only their second win from five games, while their opponents remain rooted to the bottom.

The Falcons were given a setback for the rest of the season when they lost tighthead prop Phillip Lemmer for three weeks after a spear tackle this past weekend on Western Province midfielder Corne Uys. Lemmer appeared before a South African Rugby Union disciplinary committee on Tuesday and was handed the ban.
It was scrappy and unconvincing to say the least, but the Blue Bulls scored an all important fourth try on their way to a 27-13 victory over a plucky Falcons side at Bosman Stadium on Friday night. The bonus point for the Bulls enables them to stay in touch with the log leaders in the Absa Currie Cup competition.
The Sharks beat the Falcons 46-17 in the Currie Cup rugby series on Friday night in Brakpan after leading 17-3 by half-time. The men from KwaZulu-Natal got their campaign back on track after two losses with a perfect tally of five points. They outscored the Falcons by seven tries to two.
The Falcons recorded their first victory in the Currie Cup rugby competition when they beat the Griquas by 23-8 at the Bosman stadium on Saturday. The Falcons scored three tries to one and led by 6-5 at the break. The home side ground the visitors down in a hard fought contest for sixty minutes before taking control of the game in the last quarter.
The Cheetahs proved why they are Currie Cup champions with a 66-9 demolition job on the Valke in Brakpan on Friday night. Led by a rampant Willem de Waal, who controlled the game throughout, the Cheetahs overwhelmed the home side and scored a massive ten tries without reply to underline their dominance at this level.
The Falcons pulled off somewhat of a surprise when they beat the fancied Wildebeest 25-17 to claim the Vodacom Cup trophy in Brakpan on Saturday. Playing in front of a vocal crowd, the under-rated Falcons players lifted their game to outplay a lacklustre Wildebeest.

Pumas fullback Casper Steyn completed a perfect kicking display to spur his team to a 25-16 victory over the Falcons in the final of the Currie Cup first division at the Bosman Stadium in Brakpan on Friday night. The Falcons led 13-9 at the interval. Steyn contributed 20 points via five penalties, a conversion and a drop-goal.
The Falcons were pushed all the way by the Mighty Elephants before emerging 35-31 winners in a pulsating Currie Cup first-division semifinal played at the Bosman Stadium in Brakpan on Saturday afternoon. Their reward is a final in Brakpan on October 14 where they will meet the Pumas.
A chemical fire that left billowing clouds of smoke hanging over Brakpan North was extinguished at noon on Friday, 14 hours after it started. At least three residents were hospitalised for irritation to their mucous membranes — eyes, noses and mouths — caused by the fumes, said an emergency services spokesperson.
