TUT was placed under administration by Higher Education and Training Minister Blade Nzimande following the contentious appointment of former vice-chancellor Professor Johnny Molefe.
The Pretoria News reported on Friday the university's internal audit head Vincent Dlamini was dismissed after being found to have been involved in the bugging scandal.
He had been suspended while the 10-month probe was under way.
Dlamini was found to have been "instrumental in allowing monitoring equipment to be installed on the premises of TUT to monitor staff members at the university," the newspaper reported.
Dlamini had claimed that the arbitrator who presided over the hearing was not impartial.
In August, TUT was placed under administration by Higher Education and Training Minister Blade Nzimande following the contentious appointment of former vice-chancellor Professor Johnny Molefe.
Molefe lost his job in November amid allegations that he used a revoked evaluation certificate to apply for the job. – Sapa
