Colonel Nkosana Ximba says the allegations were made to discredit him and the state's case.

One of four people arrested in connection with the alleged plot to murder investigators in the kidnapping case involving Radovan Krejcir claimed a senior police officer sold information to willing buyers, the Star reported on Thursday.

Siboniso Miya's lawyer Saleem Ebrahim told the newspaper Miya's role in the alleged murder conspiracy was fabricated to cover the officer's alleged role in the Krejcir case.

"He [the officer] allegedly sold confidential information to willing buyers," Ebrahim reportedly said in a statement.

The Star reported that the confidential information was apparently GPS co-ordinates and that one of the officers involved was crime intelligence officer Colonel Nkosana "Killer" Ximba. He and forensic investigator Paul O'Sullivan were the alleged targets of the murder plot. Ximba, who is one of the lead investigators in a task team investigating Krejcir, denied the claims.

"Obviously this story doesn't make sense, even a child can see that. These people wanted to kill me. How could I have been working with them?"

Ximba said the allegations were made to discredit him and the state's case.

The kidnapping case allegedly involves Czech fugitive Krejcir, Sandton businessman Desai Luphondo, and two members of the Hawks, warrant officers Samuel Modise Maropeng and George Jeff Nthoroane. They were arrested in November.

In June, they allegedly kidnapped and assaulted a man whose brother, known only as "Doctor", disappeared with a 25kg shipment of tik he had been recruited to help smuggle through OR Tambo International Airport.

They allegedly kept the man at Krejcir's Money Point business in Bedfordview, Johannesburg, for four days, and assaulted him. – Sapa
