Rain halts Windies-Sri Lanka match

Persistent rain stopped the third and final one-day cricket international between West Indies and Sri Lanka with the match evenly poised on Tuesday. The home team were on 81 for two off 18.2 overs, chasing Sri Lanka’s 257 for eight off 50, when showers swept across Beausejour Stadium and caused the abandonment of the match and a no-result.

The class of Kumar Sangakkara once again revived Sri Lanka after a dismal start with the bat in their crucial tri-series clash with India in Adelaide on Tuesday. Gilchrist farewell ton inspires Australia win

Adam Gilchrist hit a century in his final hometown appearance in Perth to lead Australia to a 63-run victory over Sri Lanka in Friday’s tri-series match. Gilchrist bowed out with 118, scoring half of Australia’s all-out total of 236. It was his first one-day hundred since he made a breathtaking ton against Sri Lanka in last year’s World Cup final in Barbados.

Muttiah Muralitharan shattered the world Test-bowling mark and Sanath Jayasuriya excelled with the bat as Sri Lanka took charge of the first Test against England on Monday. Ruthless Sri Lanka crush Kenya

Power-packed Sri Lanka posted the biggest victory in Twenty20 cricket on Friday as they thrashed hapless Kenya by 172 runs in the world championship in Johannesburg. The World Cup finalists earlier this year hit a new Twenty20 record total of 260-6 after being sent in to bat at the Wanderers and then dismissed Kenya for 88 runs in the Group C match.
