ICC admits blunder in Harbhajan case

International Cricket Council chief Malcolm Speed said on Thursday the organisation accepted the blame for the administrative blunder that enabled Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh to escape a stiffer penalty in his racial-abuse case. Harbhajan's three-Test suspension for allegedly racially abusing Australian Andrew Symonds was overturned on Tuesday.

Adam Gilchrist announces retirement

Australia vice-captain Adam Gilchrist stunned the cricketing world on Saturday when he announced he was retiring from all forms of the game. Gilchrist said he was quitting Test cricket after the current match against India ends at Adelaide Oval on Monday.

Australia captain Ricky Ponting has been urged to hold peace talks with Indian skipper Anil Kumble to try and resolve the escalating crisis between their teams. Cricket Australia chief executive James Sutherland wants the rival captains to hold a private meeting to avert any threat of the tour being cancelled as tensions threaten to boil over.
