Profile

Bianca de Beer’s professional journey is a testament to the power of trusting the process. Her broad interests — ranging from digital marketing to photography and even sports science — led her to a thriving career in brand leadership. As senior marketing manager at 1st for Women Insurance, De Beer’s role is dynamic. From audience research to experience design and media strategy, the 35-year-old  leads initiatives that fuel brand impact and business growth. De Beer is the only multi-winner of her company’s annual cross-functional team award, demonstrating her ability to solve diverse challenges with collaboration and a growth mindset. Her work on the Dialdirect Pothole Patrol, a public-private partnership with Discovery Insure and the Johannesburg Roads Agency, stands out as a model for using brand power to drive social good. Equally important to her is the 1st for Women Foundation, where part of every policy premium goes towards fighting gender-based violence. “Seeing the tangible impact of our work carries over into my personal life,” she shares. Her belief in small actions making a big change is unwavering.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Arts honours degree in Brand Leadership, Vega
  • Bachelor of Commerce degree in Communication Management, University of Pretoria

Achievements

  • Being the only multi-winner of the annual company team award — an award that recognises teams who have collaborated to deliver above-and-beyond customer and business results
  • Being part of the winning team twice — on two completely different brands with entirely different challenges
  • Working on the various iterations of the Dialdirect Pothole Patrol, most recently alongside Discovery Insure and the Johannesburg Roads Agency (JRA)

Mentors

There have been many. However, I believe that even those who challenge you along the way are there to solidify your values and provide you with new lessons to be learnt. I would encourage everyone to surround themselves with expanders — from podcasts to young children — to provide multiple perspectives and proof that what you are aiming for is possible.
