Growing up in Eldorado Park Extension 4, Kaylane Alberts, 29, thought he would become anything from an astronaut to a journalist. But it was in engineering that he finally found his calling, one that would lead him to the helm of Omega Mining, where he serves as managing director. Armed with multiple qualifications, including master’s, honours and BSc in computer science from the University of South Africa, as well as advanced management and project management certificates, Kaylane is a strategic force behind Omega’s supply chain operations. His job entails securing procurement deals with state-owned enterprises and export partners, ensuring that Omega delivers high-quality coal without loss or delay. His dedication has also supported the growth of junior mining companies by helping them meet their supply commitments. Beyond his work in the mining sector, Alberts represents a new generation of business leaders. As a member of the Brics Youth Council, he engages in broader economic dialogues that are helping to shape regional and global partnerships.
