Her work has earned her recognition — she was nominated for the National Presidential MSME and Cooperative Awards and won the Best Business in Retail in Alfred Nzo. Zimasa is completing an advanced diploma in animal health at Unisa. Her achievements reflect resilience, consistency, and a deep commitment to service. She is also a member of Youth in Agriculture and Rural Development. For Zimasa, true impact is measured by the lives transformed along the way.
I admire Professor Mamokgethi Phakeng. Her brilliance, resilience and authenticity have made her a powerful force in academia and beyond. She has remained unapologetically herself in spaces that often require women, especially black women, to shrink. Her ability to lead with both excellence and compassion inspires me to take up space, remain grounded and pursue my goals boldly. On a more personal level, I have been fortunate to have mentors who have played pivotal roles in shaping my journey. Professor Gabbey Malope and Mr Siya Morris have been instrumental in guiding me through the entrepreneurial landscape, offering not just knowledge but also belief in my vision. On the veterinary side, Dr Mabaso and Dr Mlisa have been my biggest advocates, providing professional support, encouragement and opportunities to grow and lead in the animal health space. Most importantly, my mother has been my foundation. She is the reason I can pursue this path with confidence. Her unwavering support and quiet strength ensure that I am not only thriving as an entrepreneur but also as a whole and grounded person.
