Following on the success of its Car-of-the-Year Polo 1.4 TDI, Volkswagen South Africa has launched a new Polo flagship in the form of the 1.9 TDI. The 1.9TDI produces 74kW at 4 000 rpm and a maximum torque output of 240Nm.
Transferred to the front wheels by a 5-speed manual gearbox, this engine propels the Polo from standstill to 100km/h in 10,7 sec and allows a top speed of 188km/h. The new model comes with spunky 16-inch Barcelona alloy wheels shod with low profile 205/45 R 16 tyres and sports seats, as well as an impressive array of safety and comfort features. There’s a front-loading six CD changer, remote central locking, and an alarm / immobiliser, as well as driver and passenger airbags and ABS brakes with EBD. Those who want more can shell out extra cash and enjoy satellite navigation and cruise control as well.
The Polo 1.9 TDI 2-door retails at R153 750 including VAT.
