Bar tab still ‘not paid’ for Parliament party

As Parliament gears up for Friday’s official opening, a company has told 702 it had still not been fully paid for work it did at last year’s event.

Bar company Liquid Chefs says it is still waiting for about R30 000 from party organisers Proevents.

The company says it was called in to run the bar at the official party a day before the opening of Parliament. Liquid Chefs’s Shai Evian says he had been forced to go to court and have Proevents director Gift Khumalo’s assets attached. He says Parliament had done little to assist him.

Parliament had not yet commented on the matter, 702 said. – Sapa
