Profile

Neo is the founder and chief executive of Neza Ice, a black woman-owned enterprise that manufactures, packages, and supplies 2kg ice packets to shops, taverns, garages, restaurants, stadiums, universities and large events. What began as a hands-on hustle — packaging and delivering ice herself every morning and night — has grown into a business that’s now making its mark in sporting events and festivals across Welkom. The 35-year-old’s work ethic is rooted in experience: “Hard work and consistency pay off,” she says. A graduate of the Sibanye Youth Development and Supplier Programme, Lechela has built a credible business supported by institutions like the National Youth Development Agency, Small Enterprise Development Agency, the Department of Economic, Small Business Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs and Nedbank, which selected Neza Ice as one of only 100 businesses to receive tailored support. Neo remains community-oriented, supporting anti-crime sporting events and creating local employment opportunities. She draws inspiration from women in business, especially those who turn commitment into profit while staying true to their values.
