Mentors

Role models and mentors have shaped a strong sense of purpose and commitment to healthcare equity and youth development. A profound influence came from a late sibling who lived with epilepsy and navigated systemic challenges within the healthcare system. This experience initially sparked an interest in neurosurgery and later reinforced a broader commitment to transforming healthcare access. His resilience remains a guiding force.  Influence has also come from mentors and leaders in medicine and youth advocacy—individuals who embody integrity, service and bold, ethical leadership. Healthcare professionals and student leaders who advocate for systemic change, beyond the clinical setting, continue to inspire.  These examples of courage and conviction have affirmed the value of compassion, perseverance and service-driven leadership aimed at uplifting others and creating a lasting impact.
