Profile

For Kagiso Emmanuel Ngwenya, 27, growing up in Soweto, travel was a gateway to possibility. Inspired by family trips that sparked a love for tourism, Kagiso set out to ensure others could have the same exposure he had as a child. He is a tourism business adviser at 3t Business Fusion, mentoring small enterprises and homestays. Currently supporting 33 homestay businesses in the Eastern Cape, Kagiso’s work spans diagnostics, coaching, market positioning and strategy. He brings a mix of hands-on expertise and sector-wide insight,  helping businesses become more competitive while championing inclusive tourism development. Armed with a national diploma and advanced diploma in tourism development from the University of Johannesburg, Kagiso has shaped a path few young South Africans dare to pursue. In 2024, his contributions earned him the Africa Rising Star award from Africa’s Travel Indaba. He’s also spoken on platforms such as WTM Africa and the Africa Rise Youth Indaba. Beyond his day job,  he’s the founder of the South African Youth Tourism Network (SAYTN), serves as vice-president of public relations at Soweto Positive Speakers (Toastmasters), and sits on the Africa Rise Youth Indaba working committee.
