Tuesday’s Premier League action

WEDNESDAY, 1.00PM:

KAIZER Chiefs registered their first win of the season when they beat AmaZulu 2-1 in a Premier Soccer League match at Kings Park Stadium in Durban on Tuesday night. For AmaZulu, it was the second defeat in a row.

Chiefs opened the score through midfieder Isaac Kongoane in the 41st minute after he received a pass from Thabo Mooki. National under-23 Striker Daniel “Massaro” Matsau nearly made it 2-0 for “Amakhosi” but his shot went into the side net.

AmaZulu came back strongly in the second half but it was the visitors who went ahead in the 76th minute through substitute Thembinkosi Biyela. Former Orlando Pirates striker Sidwell Maboe scored the consolation goal for the home side.

Moroka Swallows beat Bloemfontein Celtic 2-0 in a PSL match at Rand Stadium on Tuesday. Alex Monau and Debo Kitenge scored for the Birds. Swallows debutant striker Bryan Hendricks was given his marching orders by the referee after two bookable offences.

Mamelodi Sundowns and African Wanderers drew their PSL match 1-1 at Odi Stadium on Tuesday. Phumlani Mkhize opened the score for Wanderers in the 11th minute and four minutes from the break Joel “Fire” Masilela replied for the “Brazilians”.

Cape Town Spurs beat Supersport United 2-1 at Athlone Stadium on Tuesday. Reggie Mentoor and Ian Gorowa scored for Spurs and George Koumantarakis for United.

Orlando Pirates beat QwaQwa Stars 1-0 at President Steyn Stadium on Tuesday. Substitute Andries Sebola scored the only goal of the match.

Umtata Bush Bucks beat Vaal Professionals 1-0 at Umtata Stadium through a goal by Frank Schoeman on Tuesday.
