NEW KENYAN GRAFT CHIEF

KENYAN solicitor general Judge Aaron Ringera has been appointed the new director of the country’s anti-corruption authority, according to a news release from the presidential press service. He replaces John Harun Mwau, who was suspended last August and became the subject of a tribunal to find out if he was competent to head the authority. The appointment of the head and deputy of the authority has been one of the conditions imposed by the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank for the resumption of quick disbursement of aid to Kenya, which was suspended in 1997.
