CHANCE FOR ERPM JOBS

ABOUT half the 5000 jobs in jeopardy at Gauteng’s East Rand Proprietary Mine may be saved if mine workers’ union NUM agree to the restructuring of the mine, SABC radio news reports on Thursday. Potential buyers are expected to meet the liquidators on Friday when the miners’ contracts expire. ERPM went into provisional liquidation earlier this month, partly due to the drop in the gold price as a result of the sale of European gold reserves.
