NATALIE GRAINGER, the country’s top-ranked world women’s squash player at number five, is lost to South Africa. She has been offered substantial remuneration and perks to play for England. Grainger will be eligible for England in two years’ time, but she can represent them at this year’s European Championships. For the past two years, she has spent most of the time based in England and campaigning on the international circuit, jumping from 54 to five. Grainger, who last played for SA in the 1998 World team event in Stuttgart in October last year when SA finished fourth, also won two bronze medals at the Commonwealth Games in Malaysia in September — one for doubles with Claire Nitch and the other for mixed doubles with Rodney Durbach.
