SOUTH Africa’s gold and foreign reserves rose by R591 million or 1,7% in July, final figures from the Reserve Bank showed on Tuesday. Gross gold and foreign exchange reserves amounted to R35,65-billion at July 31, compared to R35,06-billion at the end of June, it said in a statement. Gold reserves in July dropped by R34-million — 0,5% — to R5,71-billion. Foreign reserves, however, increased 2% to R29,94-billion at the end of July from R29,31-billion for June.
