LIBYAN leader Colonel Moammar Gadaffi’s son, Al-Saad, is leading Libya’s national soccer team in a series of friendly matches against the Ugandan national team.
The Libyans will play their first friendly match against the Ugandan Cranes at Kampala’s Mandela National Stadium on Wednesday to mark the 14th anniversary of President Yoweri Museveni’s ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM).
Al-Saad, who plays for the national team and is also president of the Libyan Arab Football Federation (LAFF), is accompanied by former Canadian Olympic champion, Ben Johnson, currently his personal fitness trainer.
The contingent includes 26 players, 25 fans and nine journalists, as well as security and technical personnel and cooks.
Immediately on arrival, the contingent, trained by Argentina’s 1986 World Cup winning team coach, took over the top floor of the Grand Imperial Hotel and also took over the hotel’s security and kitchens.
