DRD MONITORING CYNIDE SPILL

GOLD producer Durban Roodepoort Deep said on Thursday it is closely monitoring a cyanide spill in Papua New Guinea that involved its Australian takeover target Dome Resources. Johannesburg-based DRD owns 19,9% of Dome and is currently bidding for the remaining 80,1% it does not already own. A crate of deadly sodium cyanide pellets, suspended below a helicopter, was accidently dropped while being flown to Dome’s Tolukuma mine on Tuesday.
