COPS ARREST SUSPECTED HIGHWAY MURDERERS

JOHANNESBURG police have arrested four men in connection with the ambush and murder of a Gauteng cyclist on the N1 south of Johannesburg. Cyclist Johan Kruger was only one of several motorists to be murdered over a period of a few weeks on a stretch of highway near Mondeor. Four men aged between 19 and 30 were arrested in Soweto on Monday morning in connection with the murder of Kruger. A fifth man, 53, was arrested after the police found Kruger’s Alpina racing bicycle in the man’s house. Police spokeswoman Mary Martins-Engelbrecht said the fifth man was not a murder suspect, but he faces charges of possessing stolen goods. One of the murder suspects was apparently found in possession of Kruger’s cellular phone at the time of his arrest.
