ACB EXPRESS SHOCK AT CRONJE SACKING

THE Australian Cricket Board expressed its shock at the sacking of Proteas skipper Hansie Cronje. “We have certainly heard the news and like everyone else we’re shocked,” ACB public affairs general manager Brendan McClements said. “It poses no threat to the (Australian one-day) series in South Africa. “And we’re confident the ICC and the United Cricket Board of South Africa will deal with these matters effectively and expeditiously.” Cronje was stripped of the captaincy and stood down from his nation’s three one-day matches this week against Australia in South Africa after admitting he had been “dishonest” with his ruling cricket board.
