BARLOW Ltd, the South African-based industrial giant, has won a R760m materials handling contract commissioned by the British Ministry of Defence. The 10-year contract, which entails the provision, maintenance, service and replacement of forklift trucks required to move stores at military units, is seen as a significant boost for Barlow’s plans to extend its geographic footprint. The contract, part of the Ministry of Defence’s private partnership programme, is expected to save British taxpayers over 10 million pounds over a 10-year period. – Reuters
