INQUIRY INTO ROTTEN NIGERIAN TELECOMS

A JUDICIAL panel of inquiry into the finances and management of Nigeria’s corruption ridden state-run telecommunications company NITEL has begun its public sitting. The panel, headed by former high court judge Daniel Ishola-Adeniyi, will look into the finances and management of NITEL and its sister company, M-TEL, in the past years. NITEL is widely considered to be one of the most badly managed and corrupt agencies in the country. A recent internal investigation revealed corruption running into millions of dollars. – AFP
