Mandela in Sharjah

Former South African president Nelson Mandela has arrived in Sharjah for a visit of several days to the United Arab Emirates, the official WAM agency reported. Mandela was invited by Sheikh Sultan bin Mohamed al-Qassimi, the governor of Sharjah, one of the seven members of the UAE federation, the agency added, saying his visit was “private.” Mandela came from Marrakesh in Morocco where he met King Mohammed VI and attended a working session of an Arab-African conference on children, in preparation for a summit on children’s rights planned for September in New York. – AFP
