Ljungberg keeps Gunners on hat-trick trail

Freddie Ljungberg kept Arsenal’s triple trophy bid alive as Arsene Wenger’s side overcame an almighty scare to reach the fifth round of the FA Cup with a 3-1 extra-time win over Bolton on Wednesday.

Emmanuel Adebayor’s ninth goal of the season looked as though it would be enough for Arsenal to come through a tricky fourth round replay at the Reebok Stadium.

But Abdoulaye Meite equalised with virtually the last kick of normal time after Gilberto Silva had missed from the penalty spot for the visitors.

Arsenal, who have already booked their place in the final of the League Cup and are still in the Champions League, finally claimed a last-16 home tie against Blackburn thanks to Ljunberg’s superbly-taken strike at the start of the second period of extra-time.
