Frenchman Raphael Jacquelin finally cashed in on his recent hot run of form with a wire-to-wire victory by two strokes in torrential rain at the Asian Open on Sunday.
The 32-year-old, second in Portugal at the start of the month and leader for two rounds at last week’s China Open, survived a late wobble as the wind and rain made conditions difficult to post a final round one-over-par 73 and finish at 10 under.
Dane Soren Kjeldsen also shot a 73 to take second place on eight under behind the Frenchman, who secured a second European Tour victory after his 2005 Madrid Open win.
South African Ernie Els failed to fire on Sunday and rounded out the weekend with a par 72 for a share of fifth at the $2,3-million tournament, which is co-sanctioned by the Asian and European Tours as well as the China Golf Association. Reuters
