Durban theatre pick: April 8 2011

The ever-lively Hexagon Dive at the Pietermaritzburg campus of UKZN this week presents three performances of old-school cabaret Paint The Town.

Re-uniting singers Sandra Styles and Helen Vermaak for the first time in 10 years, the sisters once again join forces to lay on an evening of musical mayhem and harmonious delight. The show is an upbeat, tongue-in-cheek dig at the romantic entanglements of women and men as seen from a female perspective. Accompanying them for the first time is local music legend and jazz pianist extraodinaire Jeff Judge. The repertoire is an eclectic mix of songs taken from various genres centred around womens’ experiences of love and relationships from teenage crushes to mature
reflections.

The Hexagon Dive. April 14, 15 and 17. Thursday and Friday shows at 7.30pm with Sunday’s show at 6pm. The shows take the form of a picnic concert so pack a dinner or lunch. Tickets are R70 and a cash bar is provided. Tel: 033 260 5537 Email [email protected]
