Durban music pick: April 15 2011

The Barnyard Theatre at the Gateway megaplex in Umhlanga Rocks has established itself as the perfect venue to accommodate top-flight bands who draw crowds too large for the average stage but not quite large enough to fill stadia.

In the past South African stalwarts Arno Carstens,
Watershed, The Parlotones, Chris Chameleon and Prime Circle have packed out the voluminous venue that boasts a state-of-the-art sound system. Rocking Durban audiences once more over the Easter weekend is Prime Circle, the country’s most successful exponent of mainstream melodic rock. After numerous sold out shows here since 2007, the band return for two performances to showcase material off their new album Jekyll & Hyde – including the hit Breathing – as well as belt out old favourites such as Consider Me, Hello, Crazy World, She Always Gets What She Wants and more.

The Barnyard Theatre, Gateway, Thursday April 21 and Friday April 22. Tickets R150 per person with booking recommended. Tel: 031 566 3045 Email [email protected]
