Marais and Malatsi plead not guilty

Former Western Cape premier Peter Marais and his co-accused David Malatsi on Monday pleaded not guilty to corruption charges related to the Roodefontein golf development. In court, Marais and Malatsi were seated in specially placed soft chairs behind their advocates, and not in the hard wooden dock.

Rare rabbits found near Touwsrivier

Conservationists are hopping with joy at the discovery of a population of the Cape’s critically endangered riverine rabbit well outside its previously known range. There have been several sightings of the mammal on the privately-owned Bijstein nature reserve in the Touwsrivier district about 150 km north-east of Cape Town.
