A twin-engine plane slammed into a mountain in rain and fog in Angola’s central highlands, killing at least 11 people, state media reported. Angolan National Radio said there were no survivors among the 11 people on board the Beechcraft-200 when it crashed on Saturday morning.

The World Bank has said that Angola needs to make the full transition from a centralised economy to a free market and better manage its spending. The World Bank also warned Angola needed a clear strategy for managing its oil and diamond resources through ”healthy and transparent governance”.
Fearful of the Marburg virus that has killed 210 people, inhabitants of the northern Angolan city of Uige have given up their traditional greeting of wrapping friends and acquaintances in a hug. Locals welcomed a reporter on Thursday by touching right legs covered by trousers — a new custom devised to help check the spread of the virus.
