Flyhalf Derick Hougaard scored all 27 points to steer the Bulls into their first Super 14 final with a 27-12 win over holders the Canterbury Crusaders on Saturday. Hougaard equalled the tournament record of eight penalties in a match and added a 65th-minute drop goal as the Bulls lined up a first all-South African final against the Sharks in Durban next Saturday.

Wing Cameron Shepherd scored 25 points to inspire the Western Force to a 30-27 Super 14 victory over the Bulls in Pretoria on Friday. Shepherd scored two tries, three conversions and three penalties and prop Gareth Hardy ran in the Perth-based team’s third try at Loftus Versfeld.

Fearing for their modesty, a group of former South African rugby internationals have won a court order banning the sale of a film showing them at the infamous military style ”Kamp Staaldraad”. The Springbok rugby team endured a stint at the controversial camp as preparation for the 2003 World Cup.
The rugby-loving public has been downcast following the Springboks’ woeful performance in the first Test against Scotland that somehow resulted in a 29-25 win. It was a victory South Africa did not deserve and so, while the big boys scratch their heads and try and come up with a remedy, those in search of an
answer might be well advised to cast their attention to the lush fields of Oxfordshire this weekend.
When the South African under-21 team gathered in Sabi for a week-long getting-to-know-you training camp last month, coach Jake White sat the players down and stared at the group for some time in silence.
