A Las Vegas court granted bail of 000 on Wednesday to former American football star OJ Simpson, who faces criminal charges stemming from what police say was an armed robbery of his own sports memorabilia at a Las Vegas hotel. He appeared in court at a hearing lasting about 10 minutes.

Former football star OJ Simpson, who was acquitted in 1995 of murdering his ex-wife, was arrested and held without bail on Sunday in connection with a suspected armed robbery in a Las Vegas hotel room last week. Simpson (60) will be held without bail pending a court hearing on Thursday, Sergeant John Loretto said.
A surprise witness surfaced in the Phil Spector murder trial on Wednesday, telling the court that he saw a lawyer for the music producer pick up a piece of evidence at the crime scene that was never turned over to prosecutors. Spector is charged with shooting Lana Clarkson (40) to death in the foyer of his mock castle in the foothills outside Los Angeles on February 3 2003.

A judge said on Friday that he would allow full television coverage of rock producer Phil Spector’s murder trial, despite an aversion to cameras in Los Angeles courts since OJ Simpson’s controversial 1995 acquittal. Superior Court Judge Larry Paul Fidler said it was time to put aside the ”fear of cameras in the courtroom” in Los Angeles.

Jack Palance, one of Hollywood’s best-known screen villains who personified evil as a cold-blooded gunslinger in the classic western Shane, died on Friday at the age of 87. Palance, who won an Oscar for the comedy City Slickers and famously brought down the house by performing one-armed push-ups on the stage, died of natural causes, spokesperson Dick Guttman said.
