South Africa’s premier all-rounder, Jacques Kallis, came through a fitness test, and could be included in the team for Friday’s Standard Bank one-day international at Kingsmead. Captain Graeme Smith told journalists on Thursday that Kallis had been taking a full part in team practices.
Australia bounced back from their humiliating defeat on Friday night with a hard fought 24 run win in the third Standard Bank one-day international at St George’s Park on Sunday. South Africa were all out for 230 in the 48th over chasing 255 for victory.
A South African record haul of 6 for 22 by Makhaya Ntini saw South Africa inflict its biggest victory over Australia in the second Standard Bank One-Day International at Newlands on Friday. South Africa now lead the five-match series 2-0. ”It was fantastic,” said South African captain Graeme Smith.

South Africa got the home leg of their series against Australia off to the best possible start with a two-run victory in the Standard Bank Pro20 match at the Wanderers on Friday night, thanks largely to the batting of Graeme Smith and the bowling of Andrew Hall. Cricket South Africa (CSA) will meet the captain and the coach of the South African cricket team next week to discuss the disappointing tour of Australia, and to decide what should be done in the future. CSA chief executive Gerald Majola welcomed the team back to South Africa after a two-and-a-half-month tour of Australia.

England clinched the netball Spar Challenge series with a convincing 65-40 victory in the second Test at the Bellville Velodrome on Saturday evening. As in the first Test on Wednesday, South Africa scored the first goal, but England replied immediately with three quick goals and retained the lead for the rest of the match.
