Boeta to the rescue

Sparkling fifties from man-of-the-match Boeta Dippenaar, Ryan Bailey and Morne van Wyk helped the Eagles to an exciting seven-wicket victory over the Titans in their Supersport Series match at Supersport Park on Sunday. Set the task of scoring 248 off 53 overs to win, after a brave declaration by Titans skipper Daryll Cullinan, the Eagles went for it from the start.

Narrow victory for South Africa A

South Africa A snatched a thrilling four-run victory in the third and final Standard Bank one-day cricket match at SuperSport Park in Centurion on Sunday, to win the series 3-0. New Zealand A, on 272 for four after 47 overs, appeared to have victory in sight, but South Africa A struck back in the last three overs to have the visitors all out for 292, with five balls in hand.

SA cricket coach won’t give up

South African cricket coach Eric Simons says he won’t resign as coach, despite South Africa’s failure to reach the semifinals of the ICC Champions tournament in the United Kingdom. Simons said on Tuesday that he still believes that South Africa can turn around from the slump in which they are now.

SA cricketers ‘want to be a winning team’

There are good tours and there are bad tours, and this was one of the bad ones. That was the opinion of United Cricket Board CEO Gerald Majola, after the South African cricket team returned home on Wednesday from a disastrous tour of Sri Lanka, in which they drew one Test, lost the other and then were defeated in all five one-day internationals.

SA netball team keep their promise

The South African netball team kept their promise and reduced the goal difference in the second Test in the Spar Challenge series on Wednesday night. Australia won the match 63-42 — South Africa’s best result against Australia in 24 matches. But the deficit of 21 was still well above coach Marlene Wagner’s target of a difference of 10 goals.
